Metal sculpture course no.69

We’ve recently run our latest metal sculpture course and all seemed to go well with it. Billy (David Mayne) and I had 3 n3ew students and one coming back for her third time. First up was Fran who quickly got to grips with welding by making a rabbit head then moved on to making a hedgehog by welding what seemed like hundreds of nails for it’s spikes on to a body. Phil came with the idea of making some sort of Austin Wrightesque sculpture, then decided it was too ambitious but then thought what the hell and proved himself wrong. Becky made a big, funny dog with wobbly legs and big ears for her garden. Our third time student was Jackie back for another go with the idea this time of making a bunch of scrap flowers for her garden and that’s exactly what she did. We both agreed it was a lovely course to run because as usual everyone exceeded their own expectations and took home some unique pieces of sculpture. Thanks again to professor Billy for running the courses with me and If you want next year’s dates before anyone else just drop me an email.
