We’ve recently run our 66th metal sculpture course with two newbies, one on his second time and one veteran student. First up in my room was Michelle who’d never welded before but being quite a practical person soon got to grips with the MIG welder and started making quite an ambitious horses head after carefully selecting the right pieces. We worked out some projecting fixings so it can be fixed proud of a wooden board later. Next up was Neil, who’d been on our course last year. This time he started with a garden flower then moved onto a sausage dog based around a big spring then at the last minute knocked out a runner duck from a garden spade! Robert was in Billy’s room and had plans for making a sunflower for his garden. In the end he worked so confidently that he ended up making two. Finally we had Steve back again for maybe his fifth or sixth course, we’re not sure because we’ve lost count. It’s always nice to have him back and this time he made more butterflies on stands then a huge obelisk. Thanks as ever to Billy for running the courses with me and if you fancy having a go just get in touch.
