‘Mick and David are absolutely brilliant at providing help and ideas to build on your original idea. They are both so personable that nothing is too big an ask. “Playing” with welders, plasma cutters and power tools for two days is a lot of fun, especially when you see how the experts do it, then develop your own technique as the weekend progresses. We both came away with larger than life sculptures and would recommend the course to anybody in a heartbeat, regardless of experience or creativity. I haven’t enjoyed a weekend more this year.’
‘Loved the course! Trying something completely different whilst meeting new people with fascinating stories to tell over lunch each day was great. Then there is the sculpture, David and Mick are so creative! They patiently listen to your ideas and then help you make them into reality, meaning you have your own piece of sculpture to take home with pride. You also get to play with power tools! I would recommend this to novices and experienced creatives alike.’
‘I would definitely recommend the course; it’s informal and great fun. Mick and David have great vision and ideas which brought my thoughts to life. I made a ‘Shaun the Sheep’ light fitting. With their support I made it myself; I did every single weld, a real sense of achievement!’
‘I want to say a big thanks for the great weekend. I arrived with trepidation and thoughts of being out of my comfort zone alongside skilful fellow students. I left feeling very proud that i had learnt new skills and had a sculpture that was all my own work. But of course it was only possible because of your immense talent, ability to get the best out of me and the chance to have fun over two days.’
“Hazel and I were both slightly apprehensive about the metalwork course, being complete novices, never having touched welding equipment before. On arrival, we were immediately put at ease by Mick and Billy’s friendly and relaxing welcome. Their instruction methods made everything seem very straightforward, and once we had grasped the basics we were soon cutting, welding and grinding all sorts of metal bits and pieces to make our own creations, which we were able to proudly take home at the end of the weekend. The small numbers on the course enabled lots of one-to-one support, making it a very informal and personal experience, and we will both be back for more. Overall, brilliant, educational and value for money!”
